nmpeterson.com
12.24 am
Welcome to my new domain! I recently decided to buy my own hosting (rather than continue to mooch off of my very gracious friend, Roger Laferriere’s), and I’m hoping this will give me the push I need to learn some new coding/scripting languages. Javascript and PHP are at the top of my list, and once I’ve learned those well enough I will be attempting to redesign this site to make it all AJAX-y and delicious. That said, I just began a pretty tough semester and so there may not be any visible changes to the site till the summer.
In the meantime, I’ve copied everything over from my old site (including old blog posts), so my photography will continue to be accessible. Unfortunately I need to go through a substantial amount of code and modify some links which are still pointing back to the old site. Oh well; it’s all in the name of progress!
I’ll miss my old site, but nmpeterson.com is a hell of a lot easier to type than noel.arts-and-literature.com!

New Photos
9.45 pm
Just a quick note to say that my photos from September-December 2009 have been put online; just click “photography” in the navigation bar to have a look. I hadn’t had the time to put them up last semester because school kept me too busy, and I decided I needed to put them up on the last day of winter break or else they wouldn’t see the web till June 2010. I’ve been there before, and don’t ever want to go back!

Goodbye, Grandma
7.54 pm
Not only was this photo (one of the first I ever took) taken in your back yard, but it is also best dedicated to you. You truly will be a life among the dead.
I love you.

Finally!
4.43 pm
The photography site is finally, one-hundred-percent up-to-date. And I got it done an hour before my first class of grad school! I always work better with a deadline.
Lord willing, September’s photos will all be taken with my new D90.

I Can't Take It Anymore
1.26 pm
Ever since last summer, when I had to give back the Nikon D70 and macro lens that St. Olaf let me borrow for a research position, I haven’t been enjoying photography as much: my Canon PowerShot S50 just doesn’t cut it anymore. It feels like a toy, and I can’t take my own photography seriously when I’m using it. I’ve had it for over five years now, but outgrew it long ago. I haven’t had the money available to replace it, and so I just kept on putting up with its shortcomings.
After working all summer at a well-paying job, I’ve finally come up with the money to upgrade to a DSLR, and I’m going straight for the mid-range: I’ve ordered a Nikon D90, the updated version of the D70 I fell in love with last year.
Not only did I get a new camera, however. I also bought a new iMac to replace my equally antiquated iBook G4. This will make editing my photos much more of a pleasure and less of a chore than it seemed on that pitiful 12″ screen.
Expect the photography section of this site to be reinvigorated shortly!

I’m On A Roll!
11.07 pm
Just got the photos from January–April 2009 up!
On a completely unrelated note, I’m getting extremely nervous about starting grad school today. I went to the orientation for the new MGIS students today, and some of the classes sound extremely intense. The students and faculty all seem like a great bunch, however, so it should be fun!

I’ve Finally Entered 2009
10.05 pm
I finally got around to uploading the September–December 2008 photos. My goal is to get all of my photos through August 2009 uploaded by the time I start grad school (whoa!) on September 8th. Please, please, please, hunt me down and flog me if I still haven’t done it by then!

August, Too!
12.26 am
The August 2008 photos are now up, too. And considering it’s summer and I have no homework, the remaining nine months should follow shortly, and I’ll be all caught up again!

July 2008 Photos Are Up
1.26 am
In this three-day transitional phase between graduation and real life, I finally have some time to get my nearly year-old photos up on the site. I just put up the July 2008 photos, and hope to get August up tomorrow. After that, the rest should be easy.

Wow
10.30 pm
One eight-minute presentation is all that stands between me and the end of my undergraduate career.
Wow.
Bring on grad school!
